    Made by the

    Wheeling, West Virginia
    circa 1924-1925
This is an older (circa 1925), SCARCE, jade green, footed glass comport.
This compote was from the "Rainbow Line" series manufactured by Northwood Glass from about 1920 to 1925.
The jade green color in the Rainbow Line was introduced in 1924 (please see pp. 144-145 of
Harry Northwood: The Wheeling Years 1901-1925
by William Heacock, James Measell, and Berry Wiggins.)
The compote has a gold trim around the rim (much of the gold has faded away).  The gold trim was applied by the Lotus Glass Company of Barnesville, Ohio according to Heacock et al (p. 140).
    Condition.
    The compote is in
    very good condition
with no flea bites, chips, cracks, or restorations.  There are some light surface scuffs on the interior wall of the bowl, probably from something being stacked in the bowl.  There is significant loss to the gold trim, as is common with these older pieces of glass (please see the photo directly below.
A really pretty and hard to find compote!
There are, of course, the usual straw marks ("shearing and crimping tool marks") from manufacturing commonly associated with the making of old EAPG, carnival, and opalescent glass. The hand making and finishing of old glass assures that no two pieces are identical, each piece is truly unique.
...  This item is a wonderful example of the finale of Harry C. Northwood's amazing glass era and would make a great
addition to any collection of old EAPG, carnival and opalescent glass, e.g., Fenton, Dugan, Westmoreland, Jefferson, Millersburg, Imperial, and others.
