Optimal use of lubricants on braking systems in motor vehicles
To ensure that the wheel brake functions optimally, all mechanical parts should be greased with a temperature-resistant permanent lubricant during maintenance. The right lubricant is not always used here. Copper paste is very popular here as an all-rounder.
However, more and more vehicles are equipped with highly sensitive technology that electronically control the processes during driving (e.g. ABS, ESP). A large number of sensors provide information about the current driving situation to the on-board electronics. In the event of excessive or incorrect use of copper paste, the metal particles contained in it can lead to faults in the sensors and thus to malfunctions in the systems. More and more vehicles are being equipped with chassis parts and brake calipers made of aluminum. Copper and aluminum react electrolytically with one another.
